Is one of the biggest countries in Latina American finally deciding to legalize online casinos? The answer might be a big yes according to a radio interview with a big name from the country.
A Brazilian federal deputy claims that legalizing gambling and online casinos in Brazil, could help bring the economy of Brazil back to a healthy status. The largest country in Latin America, that is having an economic crisis after Covid-19 pandemic, is seeking revenue from other sources that haven’t been explored in the country yet.
While the world is already recovering from the virus, Brazil is having a worst scenario day by day. The world famous “COVID Curve” hasn’t yet been hit and for that reason, there is going to be an huge impact in the economy. Studies now say that without a vaccine, casinos could be the cure for it due to their impact in the revenue of the country.
The idea is not new, reports claim that legalizing online casinos in Brazil, has been on the table for the last couple of years, but now due to the circumstances which bring the need of fast money from taxes, this idea could be brought to live in a near future.
Federal Deputy, Alberto Neto, claims that two big casino billionaires are already interested in bringing gambling to the country. All they need is the final approval from president Jair Bolsonaro and Marcelo Alvaro António, which currently sits the chair of the Tourism Minister.
Those casino millionaires are no other than Pansy Ho, from MGM China and Sheldon Adelson from Las Vegas Sands Corporation. Neto also tells in an interview that President’s Bolsonaro son already had a private meeting with Adelson a few months back. It is said that a few members from Brazil’s government visited Las Vegas, Nevada in order to bring big investment to their country and finally legalizing gambling in the country.
With this new measure Brazil might start to be a big casino vacation destination in Latin America. Similar measures have been taken in Macau over the last decade which turned out to be bigger than Las Vegas itself.
If this measure turns out to be signed by the President Bolsonaro, many licenses for online casinos and spots betting websites will be also given. This would make it more comfortable for the brazilian online casino players to place their online bets. Let’s wait for updates in this new law.
